Mobility = Empowerment. Giving girls their own pair of wheels is an important step to giving them agency over their destiny.

Minette’s Ride

Riders: Minette Mangahas

Dates: Sundays in April and May

Location: Berliner Mauer Weg

RSVP: minette.mangahas@gmail.com

Minette excitedly dedicated her 100-mile (160 km) ride along the Berlin Wall trail (Berliner Mauer Weg) during Sakura season to Lotus Outreach and the 1,000 Coffee event. She will ride for all Sundays in April and May (dates subject to weather). All are welcome to join her ride! RSVP to: minette.mangahas@gmail.com.

Her ride also commemorates the gift of over 10,000 cherry trees by the people of Japan to Berlin after the fall of the wall separating East and West Berlin. Over 20,000 people donated the equivalent of over 1 million euros to send cherry saplings to Berlin in 1990, which now bloom beautifully in April every year.

Minette says her ride is a celebration of solidarity across peoples of the world for peace and freedom. She’s inspired by the dreams and bravery of LO beneficiaries who advocate for an inclusive and equitable world. At LO, a bicycle or seat on a bus means a way to school; ie transport, access to education, and empowerment.

Monthly commitments to LO’s Scholarship Fund will ensure beneficiaries can rely on support year after year. If you would like to give bigger see Our Future. Thank you!
